Sturgis 2006:

Wide Open Cycles specializes in cool t-shirts and long, low customs.


- A sweet Harley-Davidson Bagger riding through the Broken Spoke Saloon at Sturgis County Line.


- BREW Bikes’ Flatout Flatty brings a racing vibe to a motor that makes maybe 40 horsepower.

Kiwi Indian’s old school reproduction Indians blow any and all bikes with the legal name Indian out of the water.

We don’t know how old school it is, but it is a looker.



- One Hot Sportster.

- Brian Klock’s Root Buell shows he’s got more going on than just baggers.




- Matt Hotch did the unthinkable: Built a custom with a Vincent Black Shadow engine… and then raced it at the Bonneville Salt Flats.





- Jonz Customs makes some wicked machinery, owner/builder Steve Jonz proudly proclaims “No two are alike”

- We forgot who built this freaky thing, but we’re pretty sure it won a bunch of shows.

Truly custom Harleys lost some ground in the mid-00’s but the good ones are always good to find.



- Drag Specialties thought the future of bikes might look like this.


- In 2006, Von Dutch was resurrected.

There was a day that a chopper could be made from anything.

Low, fast, and flamed. What else do you need?

A tight little bobber.

- A Buell custom even more aggressive than the original.

Leroy Thompson’s El CHupacabra Arrumbrado was a groundbreaking custom in 2006.

- At the height of the monster wheel era, Dave Perewitz built this custom with a 20-inch rear and 23-inch front for Biker Buildoff, which it won.
