SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.
To test these switches, you will need a digital multimeter set to Ω (Ohms of resistance). If a switch does not meet specification replace it.

Engine Kill Switch
The engine kill switch bullet connectors are located on the top left side of the frame. There should be continuity between the wires when the switch is in the is pushed, and there should not be continuity when the switch is released.
Gear Position Switch (CRF450R 2008 and Newer)
The gear position switch is located on the left half of the crankcase above the engine serial number.
Take off the left radiator shroud. See the Side Covers topic for more information.
Unplug the green gear position switch connector on the left side of the frame.
Touch the negative probe of the multimeter to a ground and check for continuity with the switch wires as indicated.
1st Gear- continuity between ground and gray wires
Neutral- continuity between ground and light green/red wires
2nd Gear- continuity between ground and light green/red wires
Unplug the green gear position switch connector as stated above. Remove the wire band that holds the green gear position switch wire to the frame.
