Camshaft and Decompressor Inspection

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

To remove the camshaft see the Camshaft Removal topic.

Inspect the rocker arm for damage. If the arm is damaged where it contacts the camshaft also inspect the camshaft for damage. Inspect the oil passage to make sure it is not clogged. Measure the inside diameter of the rocker arm with vernier calipers. If the measurement exceeds the service limit replace the rocker arm.

(Service Limit for Rocker Arm Inside Diameter is 12.05 mm or 0.474 in)
