Some notes from our progress on this manual….

Photographers Note: Today, we spent hours trying to get the alternator apart on our Suzuki Katana. The official Suzuki factory manual offers no disassembly tips other than “Separate the generator…”

Despite the bike being fairly new one of the bearings was corroded into the alternator housing. We successfully separated the halves after much struggle only to find out that a spacer was frozen onto the other half. Sometimes you need to walk away from a job, think about it, maybe even sleep on it and return to conquer it another day. Until tomorrow….

Photographers Note: Oh another day of Suzuki Katana electrical fun. We solved our alternator issues and moved on to the starter. Problem is the Suzuki Factory Service manual shows another starter than the one in our 2006 model and the procedure for disassembly is wrong. A few phone calls, some emails and hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of this. For now we move on to other electrical testing.
