SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.
Disassembly the front forks. See the Fork Disassembly topic for more information.
Inspect the inner fork tube for nicks and scratches. If any imperfections are noted near the fork seal area the fork seal is at risk of getting damaged and leaking. If any scratches are found and they are not too deep you can use Emory cloth or a wet stone to remove the sharp edges. Replace the fork tubes as needed.
Fork Tube Runout
Check the inner fork for run out. You will need a magnetic stand with a dial indicator, and a set of V-blocks. Place the tube into the V-blocks and rest the tip of the dial indicator in the middle of the fork. Rotate the fork and record your measurement. Replace the fork tubes as needed.

Bushings
Inspect the Teflon coating on both bushings, if any Teflon is missing or worn replace the bushings. Always lubricate the bushings with fork oil before reinstallation.
