Tire Inspection

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

Inspect your tires for signs of damage or wear before each ride. The general condition of your tires is important to both the handling of your vehicle and your personal safety. Often times problems such as improper tire pressure, bad wheel bearings, improper wheel runout, a bent axle or forks will reveal themselves through abnormal tire wear – frequent inspections will help you to diagnose these conditions early on.

If you have any concerns as to whether a tire is safe to use have a qualified motorcycle technician inspect it. Damage such as impacts, penetrations, dry rot, knots, bulges or air loss will require the removal of the tire for a proper inspection – replace your tire as needed. Tires with plugs, tubes with patches and other temporary repairs should be replaced.

Measure the tires depth using a tread depth gauge. The minimum tire tread depth specification for the front and rear tires are.

Inspect tire pressure before each ride. For accurate readings check tire pressure when the tire is cold.

Set the tire pressure to the manufactures recommendation.

front tire air pressure is 150 kPa or 21 psi)

rear tire pressure is 172 kPa or 25 psi)
