SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.
Remove the fuel tank. See the Fuel Tank Removal topic for more information.
Start the engine and warm it up, then turn the engine off.
Remove the sparkplug using an 18 mm spark plug socket. See the Sparkplug Removal topic for more information.

Install the compression tester into the sparkplug hole hand tight using a 12 mm adapter.
Turn the key on and make sure the transmission is in neutral.
Hold the throttle wide open and crank the engine until the needle on the compression gauge stops rising. Record your reading and compare it with specification.
Cylinder compression: 480 to 785 kPa or 70 to 114 psi
