Spark Plug

The Kawasaki KLR650 uses an NGK DPR8EA-9 or Nippon Denso X24EPR-U9 gapped to .9 mm or .035 inches.

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

Spark Plug Removal

Remove the fuel tank. See the Fuel Tank topic for more information.

Remove the sparkplug cap from the spark plug by pulling it up.

Blow out any dirt or debris that maybe laying in the sparkplug cavity. Always wear safety glasses when using compressed air.

Remove the sparkplug using a 18 mm socket.

Spark Plug Installation

Always check the sparkplug gap before installing.

Apply a small amount of anti-seize to the threads of the sparkplug, this will help for installation and removal.

Tighten the sparkplug to its proper torque specification.

Sparkplug torque: 14 N-m or 10.0 ft-lb
