Crankshaft

Removal

Split the crankcase.

Remove the crankshaft and the transmission shafts.

Take out the four screws holding each crankshaft bearing retainer to each crankcase half, and remove the bearing retainers.

If the connecting rod set is to be replaced, disassemble the crankshaft with a hydraulic press.

Installation

Assemble the crankshaft with a hydraulic press. Standard side clearance for the connecting rod big end is 0.25 – 0.30mm. See the engine section for more complete crankshaft rebuilding specs.

Push the tapered end of the crankshaft into its bearing in the left hand crankcase half.

Assemble the crankcase.

Put the oil seal collar onto the right hand end of the crankshaft and slip it into the oil seal.
