SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

Inspection

Inspect the choke lever free play by operating the choke lever until you feel resistance. The free play should be about 3 mm (0.12 in) measured at the lever.

Adjustment

Remove the handlebar cover. See the Handlebar Cover topic for more information.

Loosen the choke cable locknut with a 10 mm wrench.

Turn the choke cable adjuster with an 8 mm wrench.

Hold the adjuster with an 8 mm wrench and tighten the locknut securely with a 10 mm wrench.
