Spark Plugs

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

Spark plug: NGK CR7E, DENSO U22ESR-N
Spark plug gap 0.7 ~ 0.8 mm (0.028 ~ 0.031 in.)

Removal

Be sure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position.

The converter air duct must be removed to access the rear spark plug.

Loosen the air duct clamp screws with a #2 Phillips screwdriver.

Remove the air duct.

Pull the spark plug caps off of the spark plugs.

Clean off the area surrounding with compressed air or a shop towel to make sure debris doesn’t get into the combustion chamber when the spark plug is removed.

Remove the spark plug using a 5/8 in deep well spark plug socket.

NOTE: Always wear safety glasses when using compressed air and never point it directly at yourself or anyone else.

Inspection

Inspect the spark plug for signs of damage. The color of the spark plug can indicate how the mixture is burning. A white colored plug shows a lean mixture, where a dark plug shows a rich mixture. Do not hesitate to replace a spark plug. Always replace a spark plug if any part of it is damaged.

See the spark plug troubleshooting chart for more information.
