Rear Brake Pedal

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

Removal

Remove the right footrest. See the Footrests topic for more information.

Loosen the locknut and turn the adjuster bolt out. Free the rear brake light switch spring. Remove the cotter pin, washer, rear brake cable joint and free the rear brake cable from the pedal.

Remove the cotter pin and washer from the rear brake pedal pivot. Slide the rear brake pedal off the pivot with the return spring and the O-ring.cable joint and free the rear brake cable from the pedal.

Remove the brake cable and brake light switch from the stay on the frame if needed.

Installation

Install the brake light switch and rear brake cable into the stay on the frame if they were removed.

Lubricate the rear brake pedal pivot and O-ring with grease. Install the O-ring, return spring and brake pedal onto the pivot.

Install the rear brake pedal pivot washer and a new cotter pin. Bend the cotter pin to secure the brake pedal.

Connect the rear brake cable to the pedal. Insert the joint from the outside. Place the washer on the inside of the joint and install the new cotter pin and bend it to secure the cable to the pedal. Connect the he rear brake light switch spring to the pedal.
