Place the wheel on the hub. Make sure the tire rotation direction is correct. Thread on the wheel washers and nuts. Tighten the wheel nuts with a 17 mm socket. Lower the front wheels to the ground and torque the nuts to specification.

Wheel Nut Torque: 78 N-m, 8.0 kgf-m, 58 ft-lb

Wheel Hubs

Removal

Remove the caps from the hub nuts.

Straighten the cotter pins and remove them from the axles and hub nuts.

Depress the brakes and remove the hub nuts with a 27 mm socket.

To remove the front hubs the front brake calipers must be removed. See the Front Caliper topic.

Remove the rear hubs from the rear axle.

If the wheel studs are damaged the hub should be replaced as a whole.

Remove the front hubs and brake discs from the front axle. Inspect the front brake discs for damage and excessive wear.

Front Disc Thickness: 3.3 ~ 3.7 mm (0.130 ~ 0.146 in.)
Service Limit: 3 mm (0.12 in.)

Front Disc Runout: TIR 0.4 mm (0.016 in.) or less
Service Limit: 0.5 mm (0.020 in.)

To remove the front brake discs from the up loosen the bolts with an 8 mm Allen.

Installation

Install the brake discs to the front hubs so the markings on the discs face out. Apply a non-permanent thread locking agent (Blue Loctite) to the disc bolts. Tighten the disc bolts to specification with an 8 mm Allen socket.

Disc Mounting Bolt Torque: 37 N-m, 3.8 kgf-m, 27 ft-lb

Install the front hubs and brake discs onto the front axle.

Install the rear hubs onto the rear axle. Thread the hub nuts onto the axles.

Install the front brake calipers. See the Front Caliper topic for more information.

Hold the brake and tighten the hub nuts to specification with a 27 mm socket.

Front Axle Nut Torque: 197 N-m, 20 kgf-m, 145 ft-lb
Rear Axle Nut Torque: 265 N-m, 27 kgf-m, 195 ft-lb

Install new cotter pins through the nuts and axles. If the cotter pin holes do not line up correctly tighten the nut until they do, this should be less than 30° of rotation. Loosen the nut and then tighten it so that it lines up correctly.

Bend the cotter pin to secure the nut.

Install the caps over the hub nuts.
